Three park trail ride through the Wild West
Ranches and Cattle Drives

Ranch stays and Cattle drives

On a ranch holiday a well trained working horse, a herd of cows, sheep or horses, a wild immense landscape and a way of life all combine to offer the chance to become a real cowboy. There is a world full of equestrian ranching traditions to experience and these ranch holidays speak to riders who are looking for real and authentic experiences and wish to be completely involved in the work of a cattle ranch. On a working ranch the daily activities are often determined by the needs of the farmer and the season, and cattle drives will only run at certain times of year. Some ranch holidays focus more on trail rides through spectacular scenery rather than working cattle but Western riding is the usual style. Ranch holidays are not restricted to the USA either - you can herd horses in Chile, round-up sheep in Iceland or work with chagras in Ecuador.

It was a once in a lifetime experience. The most freedom I ever felt when riding a horse. Great horses, well treated and I was able to ride three different ones throughout the week.

Everyone at the ranch was very welcoming and helpful. The horses were well-matched to riders and there was scope to do lots of different riding activities. Rooms and food were great too. Darlin was a good match for me - I enjoyed all the activities - especially the cattle drives and the horsemanship games.

Kara Creek Ranch is a fantastic place to stay, people are so friendly and helpful. We loved the horses and appreciated being able to swap to another if we felt we wanted something different. It snowed while we were there for a couple of days which was most unexpected but this did not stop us riding and ended up seeing... Read all
