Elizabeth:
  • These boots I bought before Mongolia. The quality is very good, they zip on/off so easily, they're super comfy, and they even have a high-vis stripe around the heel which I didn't notice! Personally I prefer to ride in my normal boots (which are nice and narrow) and just use these for walking, moving around camp, day-to-day, but I have ridden in them (and they could be good for places like Kyrgyzstan or mountainous rides where you need a boot with a good sole). They're just a little bulky, so you have to stretch your chaps over them (which you then can't zip up) but it wasn't an issue for me - chaps stayed on! I guess you could wear them with full chaps too.
  • I also bought this gillet at Badminton, which I love, as it's a nice light layer and provides some extra warmth. Ideal for trips as it's lightweight, packs very small and is good quality (good zips etc).
Francisca:
  • I have a couple of the sunstoppers - I really like them for riding in warm weather since they're very light and have UV protection. I wore them on my African trips a lot!

Iris
  • I have several pairs of country boots - some of them I use for general yard chores and riding if not doing anything technical. I have worn mine on ranch holidays as well, as I didn't really feel like I would wear western boots if I bought them (although I did feel like I was missing out when I got there... Typical!). Those are particularly great in cold weather and are waterproof.
  • I almost exclusively ride in riding tights these days and I love those that have not just one - but two handy little phone pocket as well!
  • For those with a ranch holiday on the horizon, the Ariat western collection is fantastic! A great place to shop for a pair of cowboy boots or a nice pair of jeans/shirt. You'll fit right in!
